Donna Karan’s Latest Makeover Project: Trucks

Each Fashion Week Donna Karan lends her city chic aesthetic to a cause far less glamorous than catwalking. Last Fashion Week DKNY chained bright-orange bikes to posts around the city to encourage people to use environmentally friendly transportation. (We, too, have longed to see the day when André Leon Talley pulls up to the shows on one of those vintage bikes with the really big front wheels whilst wearing a top hat and a giant smile.) This Fashion Week DKNY made over another mode of transportation, the trucks of City Harvest, which collect and deliver millions of pounds of food to the neediest folks in the city. The exterior, as you see above, was inspired by her new fall ads. If only all the trucks in this city looked so pretty. But lest you think fashion cares only about the surface, DKNY also teamed up with City Harvest on the Make-A-Wish necklace, which you can buy at DKNY.com. One hundred percent of proceeds go to City Harvest.
