Look! India Has Couture Week, Too!
India's first couture week starts today, and it's nothing like Paris couture week. Eleven designers will present collections of wearable and affordable made-to-order pieces. Designer Rohit Bal says, "I will go to the extent of saying that the concept of luxury was in fact invented by India. The concept of luxe clothing has been a part of Indian culture for centuries." Also showing: Tarun Tahiliani, known for creating the $7,800 pink sari Elizabeth Hurley wore at her 2007 wedding to businessman Arun Nayar. [AFP]
