Milan Runways Full O' Fringe

It seems people either love or hate fringe. But the spring 2009 collections in Milan could inspire a few converts from the hate to love camp. Designers used fringe in ways we've never seen before. Especially Raf Simons who inspired rave reviews when he swathed his models in long silky fringe for his Jil Sander collection. Other fringed pieces on the runways of La Perla, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Alberta Ferretti, and Aquilano e Rimondi harkened flapper inspiration. But most of all, we're glad Italy confined the fringe to clothes rather than shoes because frankly we've never met a fringed boot we've liked. But we're still dreaming about Jil Sander. See all the fringed fun in the slideshow.
