Lauren Conrad just landed a book deal with HarperCollins. The Hills star will write a three-book series of — get this — young-adult fiction. And you'll never guess what it's about: a girl who moves to L.A., unexpectedly winds up in a reality show, gets rich, famous, and fabulous blah blah, and then learns "everyone wants something from her, and nothing is what it appears to be."

The series is called L.A. Candy and will hit shelves next summer. Conrad has been bouncing ideas off her friend Lo Bosworth (you know, one of the ones who doesn't want something from her). Now might seem like the appropriate moment to make a wry comment about ghost writers. However, we have faith in her to turn out a good piece of work. She's been giving Judy Blume a run for her money with her MySpace blog for months now.
