Confirming speculation Claudia Schiffer is no longer the face of Chanel's resort line, the supermodel has been replaced by 21-year-old Heidi Mount. Heidi opened and closed the Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week, prompting us to wonder if a Chanel contract was far off. After all, Karl Lagerfeld himself has lensed the doe-eyed beauty for couture spreads in Harper's Bazaar and Numéro. This is Mount's first big campaign, and we wouldn't be surprised if she landed the spring 2009 one too, though her agency IMG wouldn't confirm it. The last time Claudia was replaced in a Chanel campaign by Stella Tennant in the mid-nineties, her bitterness toward Stella became well known, so we hope she's kind to Heidi this time around. But with Claudia out, we wonder if supermodels will reign this season as they did last? Granted Gisele landed the Dior contract and we're still in the early stages of campaign unveilings here. But maybe the big houses like Chanel are budget-cutting.
