Beyoncé’s Style Evolution

Beyoncé has been doing some intriguing things lately, style-wise. Though leading up to her new album, I am Sasha Fierce, she preferred shiny showgirl dresses and typical pop-star fare (read: over-the-knee patent-leather boots with matching booty shorts), she's moved into a new avant-garde phase. She hired avant-garde master designer Thierry Mugler to costume her tour and has uncharacteristically stepped out in Gareth Pugh and Alexander McQueen onstage. She's going to need some killer dresses for awards-show season, seeing as she was just nominated for a Golden Globe. Judging by her fashion past, can we predict which way she'll go — avant-garde or glam beauty queen? And more important (because this is really important), has she found herself style-wise since she released her first solo album in 2003? Judge for yourself in the slideshow, our look back at five years of Beyoncé fashion.
