We're hoping that the recent shuttering of Bill Blass is the last big knockdown of 2008, wrapping up a year of fashion losses ranging from to the passing of icons like Yves Saint Laurent, Shu Uemura, and Bettie Page to the economic meltdowns of Te Casan, Sergio Rossi, and Mayle. And don't forget Steve & Barry's months-long bankruptcy saga. Tack on 43 other incidents to the casualty list of 2008 and it makes for a depressing catalogue. But hey: You can't move forward without remembering the past. [Refinery 29/Pipeline]
