Video: Thakoon Panichgul Studio Tour

  • 1/21/09 at 1:10 PM

Thakoon Panichgul started in fashion as an assistant at Harper's Bazaar writing photo captions. "I was like, 'I don't know if this is for me,'" he told New York fashion director Harriet Mays Powell when she stopped by for a studio tour. He quit in 2004 and, just four years later, saw his red-cabbage-print dress on Michelle Obama at the Democratic National Convention. "I didn't know that she was gonna wear it that night. When I saw it on TV it was the most magical thing," he said. Watch the video to hear more about Michelle's dress and see an up-close look at Thakoon's new collection.
