Fug Girls: Tori Spelling’s Pancake Makeup Fails to Have Effect of Actual Pancake

You just know she uploaded those shots straight to her Facebook.

When Tori Spelling arrived at Christian Siriano on Thursday night, three things jumped out at us. First, her deep-teal Siriano cocktail dress was extremely pretty and flattering to her bustline — as well it should have been, as we believe he made it for her specifically and most recently fitted it to her that afternoon. Second, the erstwhile Donna Martin was wearing way too much makeup. At her age, shouldn't she have graduated to a more natural look? And finally, girlfriend is THIN. We think she's even less substantial than when she last played Donna and spent about four years in belly shirts. We were seated right next to a whole clutch of Christian's Project Runway castmates, and Kevin Christiana was sufficiently moved to lean over to us — people whom he doesn't even know — and remark that she is way too skinny. (He also told us that as soon as everyone in his season of Runway got a load of Christian's work, they knew they were screwed. That's got to be demoralizing when you're stuck in a continuous loop of not sleeping and having only eight hours to make dresses out of, like, flaxseed and Jacuzzi jets.)

For Shoulders, It’s the Bigger the Better

Shoulders are anything but demure this fall. Think big, bold, and anything goes. Karen Walker spiced up the traditional blazer with points at the joints while Frank Tell and Miss Sixty used extra fabric to create cloud-like poufs. Marc Jacobs, of course, took his shoulders to eighties extremes — proving that bigger is better this season. Even Donna Karan’s belted jackets were large and in charge. Click ahead to see more.

Fashion Has Its Own Onion

Late this afternoon, a mysterious e-mail appeared in our in-boxes from something calling itself WWWWD. Not knowing what in the world that might be, we naively opened the attachment and were greeted with Worldwide Womenswear Digest, a lovely spoof of WWD. In short: It's the Onion of the fashion world. While spoofs are generally massive failures or huge successes, WWWWD is top-notch. And we have absolutely no clue who's behind it. But we simply must share. Some headlines, and a download link after the jump:

• THE PARENT TRAP: Bee Shaffer shocked to learn most parents don’t have yearly hug limits

• Diane von Furstenberg Debuts Controversial Spinach Wrap Dress

• THIS JUST IN: ALEXANDER McQUEEN/Björk COLLABORATION FOR H&M SUSPECTED IN DUTCH SALMONELLA OUTBREAK

Look Book: Róisín Murphy Dances Near the Tents

The Look Book met Irish musician Róisín Murphy near the tents this week, taking a break from wearing Givenchy. Though she describes her style as “sexy preppy,” her look is her own. “I never have a big concept, because I dress myself.” Watch the video to see what she makes out of Diesel, Alexander Wang, and Fendi.

The Historic Barefoot Finale at Brian Reyes

Brian Reyes collaborated with Manolo Blahnik on shoes for his show today, but the models could barely walk in them. Many took their shoes off mid-walk. It was so bad, in fact, that the finale was done barefoot. We like this idea. For spring 2010 someone should throw sand on the runway as part of some sort of beach theme (ahem, Thom Browne). Solange Inadvertently Explains Her Fashion Choices

When we asked her if she was cutting back for the recession, Solange just might have revealed why she dresses in that special way that she does: "I live for Target and Walgreen's and places like that. I live in the drugstores — I even dress from the drugstores." Hey, we're all for keeping it budget, but Ricky's NYC is not a drugstore.

Have the Divas Dropped Out of Christian Siriano’s Front Row?

Christian Siriano's show is tonight at 6 in the tents. Though he told us "five divas" would attend and hinted to us last week that Victoria Beckham might be among them, he writes today for Time that celebs canceled for the show, which is "typical." But he said he fit Tori Spelling today (for which event, he doesn't say) and Mena Suvari for an Oscar party. "I hope she will be a long lasting client," he writes. Curiously, he doesn't reveal the same wish for Tori. [Time]

Leather Fans Rejoice: Skins Are Definitely In

From shorts to leggings to trousers (baggy and tight), the runways channeled their inner motorcycle mama. Alexander Wang sent out croc (or croclike) shorts and leather leggings, while Charlotte Ronson opted for cropped pants and fringe. Jill Stuart, Matthew Williamson, and Ohne Titel offered up pants so tight, it makes us wonder how mere mortals will wear them. Thankfully, Preen and Richard Chai had roomier versions. And let's not forget the boys: Davidelfin and Diesel sure didn't! To see more leather, click ahead.

So Catherine Malandrino’s Collection Had Some Interesting Details

The model muzzle and hand dress.

The model muzzle and hand dress.Photo: Imaxtree

Catherine Malandrino always shows pretty dresses. But her show this afternoon in the Rainbow Room gave us a few pauses. First the models' hair raised eyebrows — the clusters of buns were so bulbous and piled so high they spilled over onto the girls' foreheads, restrained by hairnets. We felt downright uncomfortable when a couple of girls walked out with hairnets extending over their entire faces, like some sort of model muzzles. Was Malandrino afraid they might eat the chocolate croissants or mini-quiches from the breakfast spread? Or — God forbid — open their mouths? Also making a lasting impression were the hands printed on dresses; they reached down from the shoulder and across the hip as if to grope the wearer. At least in this time of economic turmoil, she put bracelets and rings on the hands. They might have been dangling off the fabric, but Beyoncé would approve.

Marc Jacobs Assesses Kate Moss

On May 6, the next Costume Institute exhibit opens to the public. This one is called "Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion," curated by Harold Koda. In a press conference about the exhibit yesterday, Marc Jacobs, who's sponsoring this year, said he urged Koda to make it fun. Jacobs cast Kate Moss in the show for his famous Perry Ellis grunge collection, which got him fired. But he's not sure he'd agree with Koda that that was a "defining moment." We hear him — these days that woman breathes and it's a defining moment. [Heard on the Runway/WSJ]

Heatherette Richie Rich Is BACK

Last night at the Waldorf, we didn't have to ask the ushers how to find the Grand Ballroom where we would witness the return of ex-Heatherette designer Richie Rich. We just had to follow the men in high heels, latex leggings, and of course glitter. The invitation read "dress/attire: sparkling," and attendees didn't disappoint. Luminaries (literally) in the audience included Justin Tranter, Ice-T and Coco, and someone in an ultraplush pig costume.

The elevated runway reminded us of the Baby Phat shows Kimora Lee Simmons staged in Hammerstein before the economic downturn. But there was no evidence of money troubles here. Before the show, a singer, violinist, and shirtless men's dance troupe performed. Then Kat de Luna took the stage to sing and dance around in a purple crop top and skirt made of furry black tails. Meow indeed.

Richie's collection included second-skin boxer briefs for men in money print with coins glued across their goods; orange-and-black zebra-print bikinis for ladies; schoolgirl blazers adorned with glitter; and dresses complete with ass bows. Tinsley Mortimer, Aubrey O'Day, and Pam Anderson walked for the finale. All in all, it was a magnificent comeback, a magical evening that did justice to everything that sparkles in this world and confirmed one thing: Richie Rich is back. See the highlights in the slideshow.

Fug Girls: Thank You, Diane Kruger, for Bringing Pacey to Hilfiger

It hurts too much — look away, Selma, and tend to your broken heart.

It hurts too much — look away, Selma, and tend to your broken heart.Photo: Getty Images

Last season, when Diane Kruger arrived at Tommy Hilfiger sans dashing boyfriend Joshua Jackson, we scolded her for the oversight and encouraged her to go sit in the corner and think about what she'd done. Well, time to take off the dunce cap, Diane: At Thursday morning's Tommy show, just as we settled in for some celeb-spotting, the crowds parted, the "Hallelujah" chorus blasted, and tiny angels flew down from the rafters carrying a heavenly spotlight that they cast right onto Kruger and Jackson's beaming faces. "Pacey. Pacey! PACEY!" we choked, clutching each other like 13-year-olds. Seriously, we were 30 seconds away from asking him to sign our Trapper-Keepers. Or our chests.

André Leon Talley Is Vera Wang’s Biggest Fan

It seemed everyone was a fan of Vera Wang's show this afternoon, presented in her new Mercer Street store instead of the tents where she usually shows. André Leon Talley was perhaps the biggest — he was certainly the loudest. He loved the stark white bi-level space so much, in fact, that after the show he made it clear he had no intention of going anywhere. Making a grand entrance from the backstage area to the lower level where Vera was doing interviews, swathed in his favorite red-and-black robe, he sat himself down on a bench against the wall a few feet down from Vera, as if it were his new throne. Though he told a passerby, "Business is hard this week," he looked so content on this seventh day of Fashion Week you'd think he'd just had a massage or was sunning himself in St. Barts. He sent an assistant off to get him coffee, requesting "lots and lots of milk." We half-expected him to call a moving van to fetch his things so he could take up residence. We could feel the Vera love.

Lynn Yaeger: At Anna Sui, a Remembrance of Things Past

It's a mauve, mauve world at Anna Sui.

It's a mauve, mauve world at Anna Sui.Photo: Imaxtree

Veteran fashion critic Lynn Yaeger is roaming the tents for us and blogging up a storm. Here's her latest report.

I almost skip the J. Mendel show because it’s scheduled for the ungodly hour of 9 a.m., but then it dawns on me, as I struggle to the subway, that this is actually the time a lot of people start work! At least my feet are clad in Repetto dance flats rather than the ridiculously vertiginous heels Mendel’s models are forced to wear. How can they stand up? How can they walk? Why do women like these things? And why must the soles always be red? Why not persimmon? Periwinkle?

In a week of opaque tights and smoky eyes, Doo.Ri gave us some exciting accessories. Her lace leggings had just enough sequins to catch the light. Her hair-trimmed bags had fun zipper detailing. And the designer also developed last season's black-lipstick trend into something wearable by using a matte gray-violet tone. Anna Wintour Tries to Understand These Kids Today

Anna Wintour curiously attended Justin Timberlake's William Rast show this week. According to the Post, she had an agenda: Backstage in the Mercedes-Benz Star lounge she was overheard telling JT that his girlfriend, Jessica Biel, should stop by her office to discuss a possible cover. She was also overheard asking her daughter, Bee Schaffer, "Who is the singer that talks about kissing girls?" Oh, Anna. [NYP]

Agyness Deyn Is Wednesday’s Top Model

Last night's competition for the top-model spot was a tight race. The big designers decided to choose the same girl to both open and close. Iris Strubegger, next month's French Vogue cover girl, opened and closed Proenza Schouler, while Jourdan Dunn defined modern elegance by opening and closing at Oscar de la Renta. However, it's Agyness Deyn who comes out on top. Until yesterday, the Brit was M.I.A. on all the New York runways. But she resurfaced at Anna Sui, opening the show for the fifth season in a row. And since she also landed the closing slot, Deyn edges out Dunn. For now, at least.

Fug Girls: Momsen, Wintour Give Life Lessons at Marchesa

As we dashed through the drizzle to the temporary shelter erected outside Wednesday’s Marchesa presentation, we unwittingly came within an inch of impaling Diane Kruger’s abdomen with our umbrellas. The actress was huddled near the mouth of the tent to wait for her car without being savaged by precipitation; luckily we adjusted our trajectories before blood was shed. We’re sure boyfriend Joshua Jackson would never forgive us, and we could never, ever risk running afoul of Pacey Witter.

Is Coco Rocha the new Martha Stewart? Today at Michael Kors we saw her interview Chanel Iman, shoot Lauren Ezersky down when she tried to interview her, say chirpy things into the camera, strip down, put on a tight gray Michael Kors suit, walk the runway, strip down again, change into regular clothes, and go back to interviewing her fellow models. We were surprised she didn’t julienne some carrots and teach us how to change motor oil in the process. Between breaths, Jada Yuan caught up with Fashion Week’s busiest model-TV-host-Irish-step-dancer-redhead.

Klum, Kors Illuminate Next Season of Project Runway

Heidi Klum

Heidi KlumPhoto: Getty Images

Earlier this week, we ran into Tim Gunn, who seemed as confused about Project Runway as we are. Then today we talked to Michael Kors and Heidi Klum, who both seemed equally in the dark. Great, guys. This really helps.

Klum seemed to be the most clued-in. She said the season is running along just like normal, with the finalists and select designers having taken the last four months to work on their clothes. They’ll show the clothes on Friday, per usual. The only difference is that the audience hasn’t seen any of the episodes leading up to that triumphal Bryant Park debut and will have no one to root for.
