Lace-up boots are emerging as the “It” shoe of the season, adding a little tough-girl chic to knits and sheers. Perhaps taking inspiration from Docs (or Demeulemeester’s combats from last fall), designers skipped zippers and instead opted for boots that, let’s face it, are going to be a pain to take off at the end of the night. Costello Tagliapietra showed laced bootees while Rachel Comey’s were perfect for the country. And Alexander Wang opted for a point-toe mid-calf version — cool and a little bit rock and roll.
