Beyoncé Graces the Latest Vogue

Have you seen the new Vogue? It's a gorgeous shot of Beyoncé, and we have to say, she looks stunning. The singer is at her best when she exorcises Sasha Fierce out of her wardrobe and keeps it simple. Her makeup and dress were well styled, and all in all, we think the cover is a success.

But, and there's always a but, we have to wonder at Vogue running two covers in a row with African-American women on them. Frankly, it's not something that should stand out. But it does, because it happens so infrequently. After years of whitewashing the cover, it seems like Vogue is making up for lost time. While we applaud them for making their pages more diverse, it would be nice if we noticed their covers because of the great dress or the talented singer, not because they actually put someone of color on there — two months in a row. Maybe if the rest of the year weren't so pale we wouldn't write this off as a token gesture.
