Carlos Miele Didn’t Close, It’s Just Temporarily Rented

Even though the Carlos Miele store at 408 West 14th Street is completely empty, with only bare racks filling the sales floor, it's not closed. Rather, the space is being rented out for a commercial shoot by a cosmetics company, a representative for the designer confirmed to us today. The reason: Architect Hani Rashid designed the store, which doubles as a sought-after location for filming movies and commercials. So all is not lost, as the racks will fill up again by Thursday morning when the store reopens for regular hours of operation, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Besides, Miele has other things on his mind — he's expecting the birth of his first child within days.
