Carlos Falchi Will Help You Design a Bag at Bergdorf
This afternoon, Carlos Falchi will be celebrating his 30th anniversary as a designer at Bergdorf Goodman. The store has set up an installation on the first floor and a window that displays Falchi's work, including 70 pieces from his archives. The mini-exhibit will be up for your viewing pleasure through the first week of May. Falchi will be on hand today to help customers remake favorite styles from the past — any vintage bag on display can be re-created in a leather or skin of their choosing (he will have several swatches to look at). The designer will sign the special-order bags upon request and, if they're lucky, regale shoppers with tales working of as a night manager at the legendary Max's Kansas City in the sixties. Check out some of the original bags from the archives off of which you can base designs.
For special orders, prices range from $300–35,000. Today, 1–4 p.m., Bergdorf Goodman, 754 Fifth Ave., at 57th St.; 212-753-7300
