Anna Wintour’s 60 Minutes segment is the gift that keeps on giving! CBS posted outtakes of Morley Safer’s interviews with Anna, which only make clearer how confident Anna is in her stances on controversial subjects like fur and too-thin models in the fashion industry, and how ready she is to defend them. She explains why she refuses to give up fur. She says asking Oprah to lose weight for her Vogue cover was a “gentle suggestion.” And in a separate clip: “I had just been on a trip to Minnesota where I can only kindly describe most of the people that I saw as little houses.” Also, get a look at the Vogue fashion closet!
In this clip Anna explains she won’t give up fur because it is a part of the fashion industry. “I don’t like to travel with security, but it got to the point when I was having thrown pies and rice and fake blood and all sorts of things thrown at me,” she says. “And it just became easier to use the security. I mean, was I going to not have security and not wear fur? No way.”
Here Anna tells Morley that asking Oprah to lose weight was only a “gentle suggestion.” Morley doesn’t believe her.

Anna also defends her use of Photoshop on people like Hillary Clinton. “That’s one of the things that makes me rather angry,” she says. “I don’t understand that if you look wonderful, does that make you less important, less powerful, less serious?” Be still our hearts.
And lastly, Anna talks obesity. “I had just been on a trip to Minnesota where I can only kindly describe most of the people that I saw as little houses,” she says. “And I just felt like there’s such an epidemic of obesity in the United States. And for some reason everyone focuses on anorexia … We need to spend money, time, and education on teaching people to eat , exercise, and take care of themselves in a healthier way.”
