Remember those big shoulders, disco dresses, and cutout dresses from fall's runways? Apparently, they're all examples of retro-futurism. That's a fancy way of referencing how people in the past thought we'd dress today. Kind of like The Jetsons or Back to the Future. But we're not becoming a society of space cadets just yet. It's a steady transition, as Balmain, Preen, and Karl Lagerfeld all had retro-futuristic pieces. And surely with the distressed jeans and cage sandals that are trumping retail right now, we're not going to be barreling toward the likes of Star Trek by tomorrow. But it's just a matter of time.
