When our Video Look Book camera caught style goddess Róisín Murphy in Bryant Park last Fashion Week, she said she was in the process of changing her look. "I did a lot of very crazy avant-garde stuff on the last record," she explained. "And now the other girls are doing it and I have to move on — do you know what I mean?" Beyoncé's new taste for avant-garde and Lady Gaga's mere presence feel forced, but Murphy used to wear Gareth Pugh with such ease. As if she rolled out of bed and threw on his spring 2009 armor dress like a favorite pair of sweats. But at the Life Ball this Saturday, Murphy looked amazing in a coat by recent St. Martins MA graduate Oden Wilson. "She got in touch totally out of the blue," Wilson tells Grazia. The voluminous blue coat was the finale from Wilson's runway show. Murphy decided to pair it with a jacket she wore back to front as a dress. Angelina Jolie pulled that same trick at the SAG Awards in January. Maybe when our divas tire of walking around pantsless, they'll amuse themselves by wearing everything backwards.
