Model, muse, and designer Maxime de la Falaise died last week at the age of 86. Mother to Lulu de la Falaise, Maxime was a muse to Yves Saint Laurent before her daughter. Maxime also designed for the late Saint Laurent in the seventies. She worked as a food writer for Vogue, and often cooked for her friend Andy Warhol. Born and raised in Sussex, she was said to have been called "the only truly chic Englishwoman of her generation" by Cecil Beaton. She married the Metropolitan Museum of Art's print and photographs curator John McKendry in the late fifties.
