Chopard Still Reeling From $9.2 Million Heist

On Saturday afternoon, a dude passing himself off as a customer infiltrated the Chopard store in Paris and stole $9.2 million worth of jewelry. Threatening staff with a gun, he ordered them to hand over some but not all of the jewelry in the window displays. As a result, only three handbags were on display in the windows of the store, which remained closed yesterday as clueless police tried to figure out how the hell someone had pulled this off. An increased number of security guards roamed the Place Vendôme, where the store is located. No word on whether that left, say, the Chanel store more vulnerable to burglars. [WWD]
