Michelle Obama wandered the forests outside Moscow this week carrying a shiny black clutch by VBH. Naturally, VBH proudly sent out a press release announcing that the First Lady carries their black alligator manila bag, which retails for $5,950. The White House, which doesn't always announce the credits for Michelle's outfits, then issued a press release saying Michelle was actually carrying a patent-leather clutch by VBH, which retails for $875. Michelle's expensive taste is no secret (she has a $1,500 blue satin VBH clutch, and wears $540 Lanvin sneakers). But the White House could have been just as concerned about the gator factor as the $6k price. She's still on PETA's good side. [NYDN]
