Many fashion magazines are sending editors to London this season to see, among other shows, that of advertising giant Burberry Prorsum. Could this added expense contribute to the scaling-back of overseas coverage this season?

Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Tonne Goodman, and Mark Holgate are all in London for the shows. After that, Goodman, Holgate, Grace Coddington, AndrĂ© Leon Talley, Virginia Smith, Filipa Fino, Hamish Bowles, and Sally Singer will be split between Milan and Paris. Wintour herself will go to Milan and then only part of Paris. (What will fashion houses do with all that extra front-row space? Usher in Sea of Shoes in a last-ditch attempt at publicity?) Meanwhile, fellow Condé Nast title Glamour will only send four editors to Europe, instead of the five who went last season (they will also split duties between Milan and Paris). In Style is cutting down to four overseas troops from six last season. Elle, W, Harper’s Bazaar, and Marie Claire will have the same number dispatched to Europe as usual. "I have ordered everyone to cut down on expenses by eating as many of the free fried basil leaf bar snacks at the Four Seasons in Milan so they won’t need supper," Marie Claire editor Joanna Coles joked to WWD. And to think we never watched an episode of Running in Heels. Hmmm. Anyway, while they're all over there running from show to show, we'll be in our cubicles in this fine country of ours, enjoying American things like our chairs, chocolate-chip cookies, and being lazy.
