What Michael Kors, Heidi Klum, and Their Fashion Friends Wore on Halloween

Fashion is all about dressing up, so if anyone should go all out on Halloween, it's models, designers, and their assorted friends. And many of them did for their various parties. Our personal favorite was Michael Kors, but Heidi Klum, Christian Siriano, and Rogan Gregory also looked pretty great. See their costumes and more in the slideshow.

Adam Lippes Thinks It’s Hard to Find an Intern With Good Style

Photo: Patrick McMullan

Adam Lippes said he and his staff look to street-style blogs and stylish kids walking around town for inspiration. "It's not only about pedestrian style — it's how they put themselves together without a production," Lippes said at Allison Sarofim's Halloween House Party on Saturday. "The kids in my office don't like the big production, you know?" Lippes said he has twenty interns in his office, and they turn over very fast. They probably don't usually inspire him, however. "[I]t's rare to find an intern — especially one from a fashion school — that has good style. Because they try sooo hard, and it never works! You know?"

Kira Plastinina Keeps It Casual

Photo: Getty Images

Kira Plastinina opted for a rather laid-back look at the opening of the Diane Von Furstenberg exhibit in Moscow this weekend. Other guests, including Kate Bosworth, DVF, and Naomi Campbell, all wore cocktail dresses.

Do you prefer to wear T-shirts at fancy occasions, or is that too casual?

Gucci Family Doesn’t Want Ridley Scott’s Gucci Movie to Happen

Giannina Facio and Ridley Scott.Photo: Getty Images

Ridley Scott is working on a movie to begin filming next year about the downfall of the Gucci family dynasty. However, the Gucci family is freaking out over how scandalous the film could be. Angelina Jolie is in talks to play Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio Gucci's ex-wife, who's currently serving a 26-year sentence for plotting his 1995 murder. So it's a pretty scandalous plot, and one wouldn't cast Angelina without expecting her to take on the role with the zeal of a bloodthirsty vampire.

So her concern is understandable. »

Loubs Don’t Project Comfort for a Reason

Christian Louboutin: "I would hate for someone to look at my shoe and say, 'Oh my God! That looks so comfortable!' That's not what I want to project. But I'm not a sadist. I don't believe suffering makes you beautiful. But comfort is not part of my creative process." [WP]

Lady Gaga to Launch Clothing Line ‘at Some Point’

Flare asked Lady Gaga when she'd launch her own clothing line. She responded, “At some point, I will. Right now, I’m more concerned with using my fame to promote young designers such as Gary Card, an artist who designed a piece I used on stage.” She thinks her public wants her to do one because “There hasn’t been a commercial artist lately that has embodied avant-garde and couture so insistently as myself.” [Oh No They Didn't]

Maybe Greenspan’s Manty Index Is Off Because It’s 30 Years Old

Fashion people and economists got giddy when sales of men's underwear went up 4.7 percent in the first half of the year. After all, Alan Greenspan postulated 30 years ago that sales of men's underwear rise when the economy pulls out of a low point. He reasoned men only invest in new manties when they're feeling flush, since dudes figure no one sees them anyway. However, Greenspan's theory, though newly popularized, could be flawed. In modern times people do see men's underpants, thanks to low-rise pants. Billboards like David Beckham's Armani ads have made sexy, stylish underpants a glamour item. Many companies are even making statement manties. So underwear may not have been a fashion item for men three decades ago, but it is now. Everyone looking to Greenspan's theory for signs of recovery now seems to have neglected to remember how old it is. But as we've said, it's way more fun to talk about underwear statistics than just boring regular statistics.

Christian Siriano’s Reality Show Will Be Like the Valentino Movie

Christian's in there somewhere.Photo: Getty Images

It's hard to imagine Christian Siriano's dark side on a normal day, and especially so when he's dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid on Halloween. But that's the direction he's taking for his next fall line — the fabric just came in! "It’s very dark — that’s the only thing we’re going with right now," he said at the "Heroes vs. Villains" party at Rose Bar on Saturday. "It’s very gothic, kind of like a swamp, but we wanted it to be really feminine."

Siriano is also busy with his still untitled spinoff reality show for Bravo, which will follow the creation of his spring 2010 and fall 2010 lines from start to finish. “It’s very like The September Issue, very Valentino [The Last Emperor]. We want it to be as cool and as real as possible.” The September Issue director R.J. Cutler has apparently advised Siriano “just to be real." Siriano continued, "I think it’s best to be as normal as possible and, luckily, I just happen to be entertaining already.” He said the show would be "really documentary-style" and involve him talking to the camera frequently. "It’s going to be really serious, like not so campy. There are a lot of moments that are just silent and like working and like really how serious the business is, because it’s really hard, it really is.” Does he worry people don’t take him seriously? “I think they do to a point, but it’s hard, you know, there are so many designers and you really have to prove yourself, so I think it takes time.”

Project Runway’s Jeffrey Sebelia Got a Job!

Alber Elbaz designs Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld designs Chanel, and now, years after winning the third season of Project Runway, Jeffrey Sebelia is the head designer of a label not his own. It's the stuff of dreams! The line is called Fluxus and is based in L.A. You can find it at stores like Atrium and Saks, with prices ranging from $66 to $300. Sebelia "revamped Fluxus’ lineup for spring with special wax treatments, sheer Modal and black stripe burnout." So if you want to look like you emerged — fashionably — from a fiery car crash this spring, Fluxus could be great for you. [WWD]

Michelle Obama Was a Leopard for Halloween

Michelle Obama dressed up for Halloween, of course. Except rather than wear a bona fide costume, she just wore costume-y clothes — a leopard top and matching cardigan with black pants. She accessorized with fuzzy ears, but it's unclear whether she wore a complementary tail (we're guessing not). See the full look in the Michelle Obama Look Book.

Milk Studios Fashion Week to Continue for Two Years

Meet John Demsey. He did not dress up for Halloween.Photo: Getty Images

Estée Lauder Group president John Demsey says that even when New York Fashion Week decamps for Lincoln Center next September, the M.A.C.-sponsored satellite location will remain at Milk Studios. “We’re committed to Milk for the next two years,” Demsey told us on Friday at Bette Midler’s Hulaween Ball. He says that M.A.C. will also be at Lincoln Center — but backstage, not as a sponsor. Demsey was mum on new developments at Milk for the upcoming February Fashion Week. “Halloween is New Year’s Eve for us, so we’re going to make it through Halloween, then we’ll get back to it,” he said after buying some trees for Midler’s New York Restoration Project.
