Bourke of Dooney & Bourke Sentenced to 366 Days in Prison
Dooney & Bourke, minus the Bourke.
Dooney & Bourke co-founder and chairman Frederic Bourke was sentenced to one year and one day in prison yesterday for taking a role in a conspiracy to bribe officials in Azerbaijan during a 1998 oil deal. A New York jury found the 63-year-old executive guilty at his trial in July. Though Bourke did not originate the plot, he knew of it, which means he acted in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He will remain chairman of the company while in prison, where he may learn a whole new meaning to interlocking d's and b's. [WWD]
