There’s now a Netflix of sorts for designer dresses. Through the website Rent the Runway, women who need to get their hands on an expensive designer dress but don’t expect to wear it more than once can choose from 160 styles and, for $200 or less, rent a dress through the mail for four nights. Recent Harvard Business School graduates Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss launched the site, which ends its test phase today. Not just anyone can use the services, however, because members have to be referred, which happens to also be a great way to provide a false sense of comfort that not just anyone was wearing that Hervé Léger last week. But gross things could still have happened to that dress before it got to you. [NYT]
