J.Crew Accused of Discriminating Against Potential Transgender Employees

Nonprofit group Make the Road filed a complaint with the attorney general’s office against J.Crew, whom they accuse of discriminating against transgender job applicants. In a test, a transgender person applying at the Fifth Avenue store “was treated brusquely, told to fill out an application, and was never called.” His testing partner, however, went into the same store a few minutes later, filled out the application, was interviewed immediately, and soon after was offered a job.
