Rodarte Sisters Rumored to Be in Talks to Design Revillon Furs

Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy are rumored to be thisclose to signing on to design French fur label Revillon, according to the Daily. Peter Dundas was the label’s last designer; he left in October of 2008 to design Pucci. Revillon chose not to show last month in Paris without a designer. The Rodarte sisters could show their first Revillon collection during Couture Week in July. Their reps deny that any negotiations are in the works, but a source told the Daily “the higher-ups at Revillon started pitching it to retailers during Paris Fashion Week.”

The Mulleavys could use the money. Rodarte only produces around 1,000 pieces a year for stores like Opening Ceremony and Bergdorf Goodman. And how many $10,350 dresses can they sell in these times? If Revillon happens, the deal would be a significant leap to a longstanding European brand for the designers.
