Slideshow: Patricia Field Invents a New Holiday at Her Valentine’s Ball

You expect a Disco Valentine’s Costume Ball thrown by Patricia Field, Susanne Bartsch, and Kelly Cutrone to be drag-tastic, and last night did not disappoint. By 10 p.m., the dance floor at Capitale on Bowery was already scattered with go-go dancers, drag queens, and Bravo TV stars in tight spandex, pasties, sequins, boas, face paint, and feathers. It was as if an entirely new holiday was created — something like New Year’s Eve meets Halloween. With eighties tunes like “Karma Chameleon” and “Celebration” pumping, the dance floor was quickly full of men in thongs and women … also in thongs. Guests took advantage of the free delights provided by Belvedere, one of the event’s sponsors, along with Trojan (who would have been proud).

The party continued well into the night, and a grand prize of a $4,000 shopping spree was awarded (by a panel of judges that included Tabatha Coffey from Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and Real Housewife Caroline Manzo) to the best costume of the evening, a well made-up feathered man in drag, natch. The secondary prize, a trophy as tall as Bartsch, was awarded to a glittered-and-sequined alien couple.
