Jennifer Lopez Chooses Three Outfits for Her Kids and Husband Every Morning

The Times profiled Jennifer Lopez's "rebirth," as her people reportedly like to call it, by charting her recent re-emergence to the public. This is comprised of three major jobs: a promotional tour for her new album, Love?; her position as a judge on American Idol, and her new clothing line for Kohl's. Meanwhile, she's fiercely protecting her kids from the public eye (with a few notable exceptions) which is probably a full-time job in itself. However, should her young offspring be caught by some sly paparazzi, they'll be looking fabulous, of course:

“This is the woman who lays out three outfits for her kids and her husband every day before she leaves,” said Ms. Lopez’s manager, Benny Medina. “Every day! She may not be there for breakfast, but by the time she leaves, they all have three different outfits.”

Because J.Lo knows from experience that nothing stings more than a fashion failure, as she tells the Times.

In her trailer, when asked what the biggest disappointment in her career had been, she didn’t hesitate: her failed fashion lines.

“That was sad for me,” she said, as she pushed a strand of stray hair back in place. “I just felt like I never got a fair chance to do it right. And on top of it, I felt like I was trapped in a situation I couldn’t get out of, and my name was stamped on things that I didn’t believe in.”

Who's to say that her new venture, a partnership with Kohl's involving Tommy Hilfiger and his brother, Andy Hilfiger, won't fall on its face too?

“The difference this time around is that Jennifer is fully engaged with a company that is professionally staffed to really develop anything she wants, from towels to knee-high suede boots,” said the fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger, a partner in the deal (his younger brother, Andy, oversaw Ms. Lopez’s original line). “Literally, her wish is their command."

He also points out that any woman who prefers getting dressed for her job to her actual job (and, we might add, takes joy in picking out nine outfits every morning, not including her own) will probably work hard on this line.

“She lives fashion,” Mr. Hilfiger said. "She sings about and says it’s the most fun thing about getting ready for ‘Idol.’ Her eyes light up when you ask her what kind of shoes she’s wearing. Louboutins, naturally.”

And, even more naturally, she'll look fabulous at Kohl's promotional events.
