• Cartier's latest scent, Basier Vole, smells like lilies. Head perfumer Mathilde Laurent elaborates: "I noticed that when asked about their favorite flower, many men said it was the lily. Of course women can choose perfume for themselves, but what's wrong with putting the man in the equation?" [T]

• John Varvatos will release the first scent for his Star USA line in September. It apparently smells "woody" and, keeping things simple, is named Star USA. [WWD]
