Walk down the relatively quiet streets of Manhattan’s West Chelsea, duck your head into any gallery, and you’d be hard-pressed not to notice the many chic and interesting women working in such a small stretch of real estate. Seeing them behind their imposing front desks or gliding gracefully from room to room with collectors, you could be forgiven for sometimes enjoying these “gallerinas,” more than the art on display. For this installment of Style Tribes — a new feature that examines sartorial leanings of people who share a common anthropological thread — we commissioned photographer Poppy De Villeneuve to document a typical workday’s outfit at a few of the well-known galleries.
