Exclusive First Look: Opening Ceremony’s London Pop-up Store

Photo: Courtesy of Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony opened their first store in London today at a temporary location in Covent Garden, with plans to move to a permanent spot down the street this fall. Their British expansion coincides with the ten-year anniversary of the brand’s first shop on Howard Street in New York (and, even more conveniently, the influx of tourists in London for the Olympics). To help lure shoppers to the pop-up, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim roped some of their longstanding collaborators into doing capsule collections, including Chloë Sevigny, who reprised some “best of” items from her past ranges for the brand. The store also offers Olympics-themed apparel made for exclusively for them by Norma Kamali, Band of Outsiders, House of Holland, Delfina Delettrez, Pamela Love, and Proenza Schouler, which created a special all-gold mini PS11 bag that’ll launch at the store (what, they weren’t saving that for the Target holiday collection?). See our slideshow of the store’s interior and some of Sevigny’s offerings.
