Diane Von Furstenberg Wants Her Grandchildren to Take Over Her Business

Diane Von Furstenberg isn't ready to retire. But when she does, she has a plan in order. "My business is a family business," she says in the new issue of the New York Post's Page Six Magazine, due out Thursday. "I hope my grandchildren will take over. I’ll keep it going for them. They can start interning soon. It’s in their genes. They’re already interested in fashion."

Jessica Alba Looks Like a Lovely Peacock

Video: Abbey Lee on Crazy Shoes, Being Thin

Model Abbey Lee Kershaw knows perhaps better than any model how dangerous the runway can be. When she fell in Rodarte's spring 2009 show because of the super-high heels, she tore a ligament in her knee. After that, she fainted in Alexander McQueen's spring 2009 show because her corset was too tight. She had to take a season off to have knee surgery, and then refused to walk in Alexander McQueen's spring 2010 show out of fear of the outrageously high heels. She tells Australian television show Today Tonight, "Hopefully [the shoes are] going to come back down soon, because health and safety regulations have to come into play at some point."

Robert Duffy’s Twitter Feed Is a Gold Mine of Insider Marc Jacobs Info

Robert Duffy has been tweeting up a storm, but he won't do it forever. He'll stop after the Marc by Marc Jacobs show on February 16, so it really is only a marketing vehicle for him. However, in addition to juicy pictures of the muscles in the office, he's revealed a bunch of juicy tidbits about the label over his feed so far. Such as:

• He's working on a movie in L.A. but did not provide details.
• He's working on a book about the people who work for Marc Jacobs.
• Marc doesn't Twitter or use Facebook. If you see his name up there it's fake, so if being friends with him excites you, you've been had.

Anne Hathaway: ‘I'm Not That Pretty’; Botox Plays With Your Emotions

MAKEUP
• Anne Hathaway: "I think I’ve got really weird features. I have very large features on a very small head. But, you know, I’m not going to beat myself up. It’s my face. I’m not very pretty. But that’s OK because I do know that I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important." [StyleWatch/People]

Milly's Michelle Smith created a makeup bag for Clinique, the second time the designer has done this for the cosmetics company. The foldover clutch with a tropical-inspired print is available through February 21 free with any purchase over $25. [BellaSugar]

Marc Jacobs Sues Christian Audigier

Marc Jacobs is suing Christian Audigier for trade-dress and trademark infringement over a handbag that's suspiciously similar to one he designed. Jacobs's trademark of the scrambled Marc Jacobs logo is pending, but the label says the bag's "size, shape, color or color combinations, product design, texture, and selection and arrangement of materials and accessories" make up its trade dress, or identify the bag to consumers as a Marc Jacobs item. Audigier's bag is "confusingly similar" to Jacobs's, according to the suit. This is quite something — a lawsuit to prevent consumers from confusing Christian Audigier with Marc Jacobs. Even if they lose, we're pretty sure consumers will be able to keep the two straight, but when someone seemingly takes your design and puts a tattoo-print fish on it, the offense is that much worse.

Calvin Klein Called Kate Moss ‘Difficult’

Calvin Klein reminisced about casting Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg for ads in the eighties. Though he called Kate a "great model," he added, "It didn’t go too well. She didn’t like him at all. He was a pleasure. I have worked with so many women, great ones, and Kate was always difficult." This week it was also reported that she only made £1 million last year, which is a fifth of what she made two years ago. Man. Being Kate Moss gets rough sometimes. [Telegraph UK]

Mark McNairy Champions Preppy Style, English Footwear

J.Press creative director Mark McNairy.Photo: Melissa Hom

Though Mark McNairy just launched his eponymous footwear label, Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, last January, the veteran designer has been honing his classic aesthetic for decades. He started designing women’s sportswear for the label Finis in the late eighties, then moved on to create menswear for 68 & Brothers in the nineties. His preppy sensibility — a byproduct of his North Carolina upbringing — incited the interest of the traditional Ivy League brand J.Press, which named him creative director in 1995 in an attempt to attract a more youthful clientele. McNairy collaborated with Engineered Garments for spring 2009 and 2010, designing capsule collections of his signature English-made shoes. Since its launch, the New Amsterdam label has focused on footwear — including brogues, boots, loafers, and bucks — but he’s expanding into pants, shirts, and ties for spring. We chatted with the designer about the resurgence of prep, finding inspiration in thrift-store racks, and why he worships Ralph Lauren.

Look! It’s Gisele’s Baby!!!

A Brazilian magazine landed yet another Gisele postpartum exclusive: the first shot of her with her new baby, Benjamin. You can tell she's holing up in Boston because he's wearing one of those down jumpsuits that kid wore in A Christmas Story. Maybe we should just be glad she's not toting him around in a stroller sealed inside a plastic bag, which would obstruct our view of the little cherub. [Quem]

The Complete Fall 2010 Fashion Week Calendar

Photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images

New York Fashion Week is mere days away, so it's time to get your game plan in order. This season's shows collide with two holidays — Valentine's Day and President's Day — and there's no better way to show how romantic and patriotic you are than by obsessing over Fashion Week. That's why we created an amazingly comprehensive and detailed list of all shows, parties, and presentations during this busy week, with their dates, times, and locations. We've mapped out over 250 events during nine days, including everything from Kim Kardashian for Bebe to Rachel Zoe for QVC to things we actually can't wait to see, like Preen, Prabal, and Proenza. You can even organize the schedules by day or alphabetically, which makes scanning for your faves that much easier. And if you don't feel like craning to catch a glimpse of Anna and Carine from outside the tents this week — your last chance ever before the shows move to Lincoln Center and all the cool ones head to M.A.C. & Milk — turn to nymag.com for our 24-hour coverage to view all the shows, backstage shots, front rows, and parties the very same day the collections hit the runway. Enjoy! And tell us ... who are you looking forward to?

Same-Sex Couples in Armani Exchange Ads Anger Parent Group

Photo: Courtesy of Armani Exchange

Armani Exchange came up with a "Share the Love" Valentine's Day campaign, which is unique in that it features same-sex couples. However, the American Family Association's OneMillionMoms.com is upset by the ads. The organization aims to rid our society of the "filth" their children must contend with every day. Normally they focus on television, but they write on their website that they can no longer ignore "fashion designers using scantily dressed models in advertisements who have recently put their focus on threesomes or same-s*x couples." Apparently this ad campaign qualifies as filth for several reasons, according to this site.

Video: The Prabal Gurung Girl Is Sexy and Smart

New York's fashion director, Harriet Mays Powell, paid a visit to Prabal Gurung's studio to talk about his cultural influences, his spring collection, and who the ideal Prabal girl is. Gurung, who is Nepalese, draws influence from the draping of saris. "If I can pinpoint one thing about the way that Nepalese women, or even in India, it's the way they drape their saris," he says. "If you look at my clothes, when it's like draping, it's always influenced by that." Prabal was also influenced by YSL's Rive Gauche perfume bottle. And what makes a girl a Prabal girl? "A beautiful girl with brains — that's a lethal combination." Find out more by watching the video.

Summing Up the Collections in a Word

Designers, like all artists, find inspiration in the darndest places. We can spend hours listening to them wax poetically about the color of a butterfly's wing. Instead, we're allowing them to provide just one word to sum up their collections. (Or, in some instances, two words; directions are hard to follow.) Read, digest, and be inspired.

The Hit List: Designers to Watch

Every season, we pore over the calendar hoping to divine who the next big designer will be. For spring, Prabal Gurung and Timo Weiland were the breakout stars. Coach's Reed Krakoff is debuting his own womenswear line, while Gary Graham, a darling of the early aughts, is back on the runway. We're also eyeing the impeccably tailored menswear from Canadian designer Antonio Azzuolo, and the work of Katie Gallagher, who's been dressing Lady Gaga. The Cut Recap: In Which Chado Ralph Rucci Fires Kelly Cutrone

Evidently, the office goes by the same dress code as summer camp.

Last night on Kell on Earth, Chado Ralph Rucci fired Kelly Cutrone. The episode picked up this week with the burgeoning IT disaster in the People's Revolution office. The printer wasn't printing seating assignments for 30 percent of the Chado Ralph Rucci list. Though Kelly blames the tech issues for the disastrous seating situation, the glitch seems like was only one of the many problems that led to her firing. Kelly's staff had some sort of backup system in place to hand out seats, but people made it into the tent without assignments anyway. And everyone got upset within an inch of their lives over all of it. Oh NO! The list is ALL MESSED UP! No one stopped to remind themselves it's just a list — sometimes we put to-dos on them! And groceries we need to buy! — or that the Third World War brewing in the office is just over postage stamps and paper bags. And so begins our summation of Cutrone's Hierarchy of Personality Traits from last night's episode.
