Everyone parks their yachts, puts on their most exciting dresses, and arrives right on time so that they can get their red-carpet photos taken in that flattering sunset glow. This year's gala was held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, and set a new record by raising almost $11 million for AIDS research. Carine Roitfeld "curated" a fashion show that took place during the event (the clothes were all black, naturally, and Kate Upton walked in it); Jessie J performed during dinner; and Karl Lagerfeld auctioned off an opportunity to star in a movie directed by him and produced by Harvey Weinstein. Oh, and everyone looked awesome. Click through our slideshow to see what Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson, Milla Jovovich, Kirsten Dunst, Diane Kruger, Heidi Klum, Paris Hilton, and countless other movie stars, models, and famous people wore.

Speaking of parties and sunsets, we're taking off to enjoy the long weekend! We'll resume blogging on Tuesday. Happy Memorial Day, kids.

Cathy Horyn Deems Mickey Drexler’s Life ‘Not the Stuff of Novels’

CNBC aired its hour-long program, "J.Crew and the Man Who Dressed America," last night, which chronicled the company's CEO and his daily duties that take him all over the world (but keep him in close contact with his team through his P.A. system). Cathy Horyn tuned in, writing that the documentary made it clear that Mickey's life "is not the stuff of novels."

True, he had what sounded like a lousy childhood, sleeping in the foyer of his family’s Bronx apartment. And later, as a very rich man, he bought classy real estate, including Andy Warhol’s former compound at Montauk. And true, he got the boot from Gap, in 2002, after a mostly innovative 19-year run that included the creation of Old Navy. (According to a Wall Street Journal profile, Mr. Drexler collected around $350 million when he cashed out his Gap stake.)

She found herself bored at some points, and charmed during others; but overall, Cathy thought television was the best way to capture Mickey's "enthusiasm and go-from-the-gut leadership" — though like the rest of us, her favorite scenes were those featuring Jenna Lyons. Naturally. Here are CNBC's online clips from the program, in case you don't feel like sitting through an hour of not-novel-worthy TV.

Mickey talks about polka dots, which are "phenomenal right now."

Here's Mickey in Italy, which nearly put Cathy to sleep.

Goody! It's Jenna. What a stage presence.

Behind the scenes of the catalog; Jenna thinks the belt is a little much.

"This $350 blouse has some explaining to do."

The Pink Ladies Are Back for Spring

For spring 2012, Prada looked back to Betty Rizzo and co., drawing from hot rod culture, and putting together looks befitting a modern Pink Lady. From the rhinestone and silk bombers emblazoned with fiery cars to the full pastel skirts paired with bandeau tops, the looks were ladylike, but with just enough edge to avoid twee territory. To re-create your own modern girl-gang look, start with a Peter Pan collar, add in some pastels, and then mix it up with a baseball-style jacket or a studded bag to keep the look from being too prim. Finish it off with a slick of lipstick in a cherry red, bright coral, or poppy pink. Click ahead to see how the Pink Ladies would dress in 2012.

Buump’s ‘Relationship Bracelets’ Tell Others Whether You’re Single, Married, or ‘It’s Complicated’

Today, as we were sitting around the office feeling sorry for ourselves for not having a half-day to frolic off to our long weekend destinations, an intriguing package arrived in the mail. It was labeled "Buump: the relationship bracelets," and contained two plastic packets full of rubber bracelets that resembled a hybrid of Livestrong and Silly Bandz. We defer to France-based Buump's press release to explain their significance.

Just in time for Facebook's IPO, Buump Relationship Status bracelets — which are inspired by the Facebook relationship status setting on a personal profile — will hit the US market in the Spring of 2012.

After making a successful splash at New York City Fashion Week and being worn by the likes of reality star Kristin Cavallari and designer Betsey Johnson, the popular accessory best known for its European following is coming to the US.

Targeting 13 to 35 year olds, these pliable silicon bracelets come in 10 lively colors of two different types: one that defines your current relationship status, and one that states what you're looking for. By collecting and combining them in different ways, these bracelets enable people to take their online status into the real world.

So, for example, you can wear a two-bracelet combo that shows that you're "in an open relationship" and looking for "whatever I can get," or "married" but looking for "fun." (In other news, isn't it weird that they're not targeting 35-and-overs or 13-and-unders? Those seem like ripe demographics for rubber-bracelet gimmicks.) Anyway, our Memorial Day weekend prospects just got a lot more exciting!

Apparently they were introduced by a mutual friend, some girl named Alexa Chung. How adorable — maybe she'll get to be a bridesmaid. Anyway, given Keira's Chanel contract, it makes sense that Karl Lagerfeld might pony up a nice dress for her. Her rep didn't give a wedding date or any further details.

Exclusive: Vintage Fashion Shots by Gordon Parks

A new exhibit of celebrated photographer Gordon Parks's images, on view now at the International Center of Photography in New York, commemorates the centennial of this remarkable artist's birth. After a rough, rural upbringing in Kansas, Parks left home in 1925 when he was only 14 years old. Inspired by photos of migrant workers he'd seen in a magazine, Parks bought a camera from a pawn shop and began his career as a society portraitist in Chicago when he was in his twenties. In 1941, he mounted an exhibition chronicling the city's black neighborhoods in South Side, which won him a fellowship with the Farm Security Administration. This afforded him the opportunity to study with Roy Stryker, the man who commissioned all those images you think of when you picture the Great Depression, in Washington, D.C.

After finishing his fellowship, Parks became disgusted with the rampant racism he saw in Washington and moved to New York City, where legendary art director Alexander Liberman tapped him to shoot for Vogue. Not long after that, his photos of a young Harlem gang leader won him a plum spot as a staff photographer and writer for Life magazine. Parks spent the next twenty years at Life but never abandoned his interest in fashion, co-founding and acting as editorial director for Essence Magazine in 1970. His flair for setting a scene helped him basically invent the genre of blaxploitation with his 1971 film Shaft, forever immortalizing the look of cool, black, leather-clad seventies detectives. Oh, and he dated Gloria Vanderbilt!

A multitalented and politically active man, Parks's legacy is worth observing. Click through our exclusive slideshow for some of the chic, dreamy images he created for Life and others.

Hear Milla Jovovich’s New Song ‘Electric Sky’

(Sample lyrics include: "With you I'm blind/ All I see is your eyes/ With you in my life/ Caught in your electric sky" ... but we got into it, okay?) Milla called the album "really exciting. It was me and my two closest friends. We just did it in my home studio, on the computer." This, of course, isn't her first time in front of a microphone — at age 16, she released The Divine Comedy, spending much of 1994 touring the U.S. as an opening act for Toad the Wet Sprocket and Crash Test Dummies.
