All Israelis must serve in the army when they turn 18 — unless, of course, they're special, like Bar Refaeli. Rather than go into the army, the 22-year-old model did other fun-young-gorgeous-person stuff like model and date Leonardo DiCaprio. But a group of Israeli parents of IDF soldiers aren't having any more of Refaeli's special treatment. The model signed a $300,000 campaign deal with Fox fashion chain, and the disgruntled parents threatened to organize a boycott of the chain if it didn't write into Refaeli's contract that she must complete her military service. Fox averted a boycott with a compromise:

Refaeli will represent the company and will simultaneously visit injured IDF soldiers hospitalized at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer every time she arrives in Israel. In addition, she will encourage soldiers to serve in the army.

The way in which her “service” will be carried out has not yet been determined. The conditions were brought forth to Refaeli and she agreed to comply and to fulfill her duty voluntarily.

But this still feels a little off. So she's going to encourage soldiers to fulfill their obligatory army duty while she avoids it herself? That will be a great sell: "Israel needs brave people like you to protect hot bodies like mine!"

It pains us to say it, but Pete Doherty has been unleashed on society again. The natty modelizing Babyshambles rocker got out of jail yesterday, and he wasted no time logging on to You Tube. A music video of "Maybelline" landed on YouTube yesterday. The concept of the video is rather brilliant, even if the production value is rather shoddy. After Doherty enters a hotel room, his girlfriend (possibly ex? It's tough keeping track these days), model Irina Lazareanu, comes in, chokes him with a tie, knocks him on the ground, starts stomping on his trachea, and steals his cigarette. Someone had to do it.

Karlie Kloss is just 15 years old, but she walked 64 shows this past season. Like all those designers, we too fell in love with her signature mesmerizing death stare. Naturally, we couldn't wait to get her on video camera for a real, live runway lesson. Her trick is to keep her chin down and not crack up when the urge emerges. In our afternoon with her, we also dragged her into the dance studio to show us a few pirouettes (she's a skilled ballerina, too — how else would she know how to manage those heels?). Also, Molly Sims stopped by to ensure Kloss makes it to a pivotal high-school event. Watch and find out which one.

At the Met gala last night, Chanel Iman talked about shooting the all-black issue of Italian Vogue with Iman, Veronica Webb and her pal Jourdan Dunn. Though Dunn has been the rumored cover girl, nothing has yet been confirmed, and Chanel didn't know who the lucky girl was either. "I’d be surprised [if I am]," she said. "If I did that would be amazing, but if I don’t, I’ll get it the next time." She was feeling frazzled by the scary yelling photographers on the red carpet. "Oh my God! They’re just calling my name left and right and I don’t even know where to look! It’s kind of overwhelming and everybody’s yelling like, 'Ahhh!'" Despite the overwhelming crowd, Iman kept it together in a chartreuse gown by Phillip Lim, who was at her side in a matching chartreuse bow tie. "Tonight she’s Swirly Girl," Lim explained. "Her power is to seduce you and mesmerize you with the spiral swirls. And the belt and the cuffs are inspired by Wonder Woman. And I’m just a chaperone to make sure all the swirls are in check." And get her home on time, we hope? The girl's only 18, after all.

Despite being Phillip Lim's muse and getting hollered at like a Beckham, Chanel is very grounded. When we asked her if she felt famous yet, she replied, "No. I don’t know. I don’t really feel that way. When you ask me these kind of questions, it’s kind of strange because I don’t see myself like that." Can we allow her to remain this way forever?

As if the Met gala weren't enough fabulousness overload for you this morning, we've got something equally good (or bad?) to share with you: Agyness Deyn's music-video debut. Yes, the video of her duet with the band Five O'Clock Heroes called "Who" is on MySpace. She sports Amy Winehouse eyeliner and, as expected, looks generally gorgeous and Aggy-fied throughout. She appears in two scenarios. In the first she wears ripped jeans, a collared shirt, and a fedora as she sits on a bed pouring her heart into a journal. In the second she looks distraught and perplexed by her feelings and wears a leather biker jacket in front of a neon sign with Chinese characters in a damp, dark street. So yeah, we'd say she's got the whole eighties video cliché down pat. What's that? You want to know about her singing? Oh, who cares. Looking at her really is the best part. (Which should tell you all you need to know about her musical talents, no?)

When most people picture Brazilian models, the first faces (and bodies) that spring to mind are Gisele, Adriana, or Caroline. But that list is getting longer with the very recent rise of Natalia Schueroff. Her delicate features, subtle freckles, and long, brown hair have been a huge hit this year. Photo shoots are arduous, dangerous matters. Especially when the models are required to move quickly for shots or, worse, actually run. And running got the best of Erin Wasson the other day when she was modeling shorts from Justin Timberlake's new clothing line William Rast. She was jogging along when all of a sudden — snap! — her foot broke. Poor thing! According to the New York Post, the accident was inevitable as her foot bones were fragile after years of "wearing only stilettos." A true professional, Wasson finished the sixteen-hour day. She'll wear a cast for a month and has to cancel all upcoming projects. But don't worry — we're putting together a lovely care package full of calcium supplements to speed her toward recovery. We'll even throw some nice robiola, and maybe a new pair of Lanvin flats too. Just as a suggestion.

Diversity is (finally) seeping onto the catwalks. At least five of Phillip Lim’s latest runway spots were striking Asian models. Our current favorite (and newest addition to the Model Manual) is 5'10" Mo Wandan. Currently signed with Next Model Management, the Chinese beauty has walked some major shows since the start of 2007. For fall, she hit Narciso Rodriguez and Valentino, and was also recently cast in the Dior couture show. Forbes's annual list of the top fifteen highest-paid models is out. Hooray! Writing about fashion just wouldn't be the same without constant reminders of how paltry our clothing budgets are. Gisele Bündchen tops the list by far, with estimated earnings of $35 million over the past twelve months. Heidi Klum's earnings are chump change by comparison, amounting to less than half of Bundchen's at $14 million. How did "German übermodel Klum wrangle the number two spot?

[B]y virtue of not only her television success as host and executive producer of Bravo's (soon to be Lifetime's) Project Runway, and as the host of Germany's version of America's Next Top Model, but with a slew of campaigns and partnerships including ones with Diet Coke, Jordache and Mouawad jewelry. In her home country, there's new deals with McDonald's, ...Volkswagen ...and hair care giant Schwarzkopf.

Because there's nothing Agyness Deyn can't do, she sings lead vocals on "Who," a track by New York–based band Five O'Clock Heroes. The single drops on June 23, and Aggy will star in the single's music video, naturally. She's certainly got the spunky rock-and-roll look down; we can totally see her onstage in leather half-gloves tugging her hair as she wails the high notes. However, past supermodels who have tried to jump from catwalk to concert stage haven't been so well received. Let's reminisce, shall we?

• Tyra Banks recorded her first single, "Shake Ya Booty," in 2004. The music video, faithful America's Next Top Model viewers will recall, featured contestants from the show's second cycle. The single flopped, and Banks's album, T.Y.R.A., never dropped. She later said on her talk show, she couldn't believe she wasted six years on something she never released.

• Kate Moss jumped onstage with Pete Doherty's band, Babyshambles, in 2006 a few times, when the two were dating. She loaned her vocals to Babyshambles track "La Belle et la Bête," and previously sang a track on a Primal Scream album. Very few people rooted for her to pursue a singing career after either attempt.

• Irina Lazeraneau also dabbled with Babyshambles, reportedly helping to write "La Belle et la Bete." She recorded an album and made her singing debut during the Chanel pre-fall show in December. Very few thought she sounded very good.

On the other hand, Milla Jovovich did alright. So, lessons are as follows: Have a really lovely voice, avoid plugging your album on reality TV, and stay the hell away from Pete Doherty.
