After you’ve loosened the Fat Tuesday feed bag, it’s time for bands, beads, and of course, booze. Though New Orleans’ favorite fruity rum concoction, the Hurricane, won’t be served in go-cups in these parts, plenty of local establishments are providing incentives to drink on-site.
• ACME Bar and Grill Bands including local zydeco-blues outfit the Dirty Water Dogs will rock this faux roadhouse until the hot-sauce bottles fall off the wall. • The Big Easy If by chance you’re looking for unapologetic tackiness worthy of Bourbon Street, this post-frat dive might just be the place. Come prepared to dance on the bar. 1768 Second Ave., at 92nd St.; 212-348-0879.
• Jacques-Imo’s NYC Starting at 7 p.m., the satellite location of the New Orleans original (and the home of alligator sausage and shrimp cheesecake) promises live music, bead throwing, New Orleans microbrews, and a special on spicy boiled crawfish by the pound. 366 Columbus Ave., at 77th St.; 212-799-0150.
• Milady’s There’s no real New Orleans connection at this Soho local, but for anyone looking to dodge the hoopla, its white-painted wooden booths and cheery atmosphere have a certain Big Easy vibe. 160 Prince St., at Thompson St.; 212-226-9340.
• Rodeo Bar Starting at 9 p.m., this rollickin’ Texas theme bar crosses over the border into $5 hurricanes, Abita beer, shrimp and chicken gumbo, and crawfish étouffée.
