Vegans to Make Last Stand Tomorrow

Our colleagues over at Daily Intelligencer recently got into a food fight with the vegan community. So, in the spirit of reconciliation, Grub Street offers up the following information. One of the most venerable vegan institutions, the Whole Earth Bakery and Kitchen, is fixing to go belly up on March 31. But the vegans won’t take that lying down, and a rally is scheduled tomorrow. Various East Village activist types will be present and accounted for, led by the ubiquitous Reverend Billy. We don’t know exactly what they are protesting, or to whom, but it is undoubtedly the vegan thing to do.

Rally for the Whole Earth Bakery, Tompkins Square Park (near 7th St. between Ave. A and Ave. B); 212-889-0303. RSVP requested.
