Dim Sum Palace Swings Into High Gear on Fridays

Even as dim sum spots get newfangled, one of the older and most lavish ones, Grand Harmony, has been channeling the twenties Shanghai Jazz Club by hosting swing bands every Friday night. A $15 cover gets you a seat by the dance floor where sharply dressed couples of all ages do the Charleston and the Lindy Hop and waiters roll by with à la cart items (there’s also a full bar, with a $15 minimum before 9:30 p.m.). As you can see from a short YouTube documentary, the band leaders are swing veterans, but you need not be — there are complimentary lessons at 9 p.m.
