Eat Free Pecorino Pastas This Weekend

The makers of Pecorino Romano, Italy’s leading exported sheep’s-milk cheese, don’t agree with Mario Batali that Parmigiano-Reggiano is the “undisputed king of cheeses.” They think we ought to be eating more Pecorino and are out to prove it via a major marketing campaign: Over the next few days, restaurants all over the city will be giving away different free pastas highlighting the cheese. This is a windfall for us at Grub Street, being Pecorino partisans from way back and absolutely intemperate in our use of the sharp, salty cheese as a table seasoning. See the participating restaurants here, among them Blue Fin and Da Silvano.
