Franklin Becker has his hands full these days. The former Brasserie chef’s planned restaurant, Bedford Falls, has fallen through, the victim of a primary investor who had his money in Bear Stearns. Either a refinanced Bedford Falls or, just possibly, a high-profile restaurant job may be around the corner; but, in the meantime, the chef has a more pressing problem: He needs more top chefs for his annual autism event this fall. As they were last year, chefs including Tom Colicchio, Chris Cosentino, Michael Psilakis, Terrance Brennan, and Andrew Carmellini are onboard, but “we need more,” Becker tells Grub Street. “Autism affects so many people across all walks of life. To have a greater chef presence will help the world know that the culinary community is coming together in its bid to help autism.” Chefs interested in getting involved should reach out to Beth Irving at Autism Speaks.
