Urban Wine-Making Comes to Red Hook

The Voice has a great article this week about “urban winemaking” — winemakers such as Knitting Factory honcho Michael Dorf, Vintage New York, Brooklyn Oenology, and Bridge Vineyards Urban Winery, which uses grapes from out-of-town vineyards to make wines in the West Village, Soho, Greenpoint, and Williamsburg, respectively. Now Off the Presses brings news that acclaimed California winemaker Abe Schoener plans to make wines out of the old Beard Street Warehouse in Red Hook, and he may have his grapes transported from the Hudson Valley the old-fashioned way, by ship! We're already planning a Sideways-style wine tour with out best bro.
