Barocco Café Coming to Ninth Avenue and 17th Street
5/5/08 at 5:30 PM
Over at Vanishing New York, Jeremiah Moss suspects that restaurateur Danny Emerman is behind a new restaurant on 17th Street and Ninth Avenue. A mangled spelling of Barocco is on some documents taped to the building, but Emerman denied involvement to us, adding that his relationship with Barocco ended a decade ago. Barocco's current owner, Cristina Orosco, says the new outpost, a slightly larger and more upscale version of the Union Square standby, will be called Barocco Café. Barring delays, she expects to open the restaurant at the end of May or beginning of June.
