Alcohol Advertising Gets Edgier, Just Plain Weirder

Luxury cachaça brand Cabana has kicked off a new ad campaign, shot by photographer Mario Sorrenti, that seems more than anything to be a nod to Brazil’s $100 million adult-film industry. It puts Terry Richardson’s Belvedere ads to shame and is about as unsafe for work as mixing batidas de coco at your cubicle. Personally, however, we’re much more impressed with Absolut for commissioning out-there comedians Tim & Eric and Zach Galifianakis to do a movie, the second part of which hit the Internet last week. The send-up of friends boozing on the beach is “absolut hilarity.” There's a certain, um, ribald moment, but outright nudity, thankfully, is minimal.
