Grayz GM Stabbed in Mob-Related Attack

5/1/08 at 9:30 AM

George Atterbury, the Grayz GM who was stabbed yesterday, was not, as initially thought, attacked at random. The Post says today, "The stabbing of George Atterbury, 34, was related to an incident in which he was shot in Philly five years ago, when he was the assistant manager of a restaurant there, the sources said." In fact, the restaurant was none other than Stephen Starr's flagship Striped Bass, where Atterbury was an assistant GM. The Post also reports that Atterbury's father is connected with the Philadelphia Cosa Nostra in some way. Atterbury was attacked yesterday morning outside 22 East 40th Street by an unidentified assailant who fled in a dark-colored vehicle. He is now recovering, and police are searching for the button men who executed the assault.
