We’re all for aspirational lifestyle shows, but this latest Batali vehicle, in which Super Mario teams up with his good pal Gwyneth Paltrow to live the good life in Spain, just seems too civilized to us. Or something. People has the first trailer of the PBS show, which shows the two chatting it up, riding around in sports cars, and gabbing with their good friends Mark Bittman and Michael Stipe, among others. (Is it just us, or does Stipe look ready to star in the Poltergeist II remake?) On the other hand, this wouldn’t be America if there wasn’t at least one new Mario Batali show on the airwaves, so we’ll put up with Paltrow and her high-maintenance eating habits — for a little while, anyway.
