As you can see from these first interior shots, Alloro, an Italian spot opening on the Upper East Side tomorrow, definitely has its own thing going on. The floor is greener than one of Hillary Clinton's pantsuits. The man behind this operation is Salvatore Corea, formerly a partner and executive chef at Spiga and a current operator of Cacio e Pepe and Bocca. This is his first venture with wife Gina, whom he met while cooking pizza at renowned Italian spot La Berninetta. No pies on the dinner menu here — as you can see, there are meat and cheese plates, pastas such as fettuccine tossed in white veal ragù, and entrées such as lavender-crusted swordfish steak over a bed of spinach, as well as a loin of lamb in a fresh mint reduction with eggplant purée and Pecorino-cheese foam. If “foam” turns you off, you can always stay on the safe side — fried spaghetti!
