Yesterday, Time Out brought news that a second truck, Dot, would be joining one-year-old Sugar in the Treat Truck fleet, and now Eater informs us that another waffle truck is on the prowl, near Astor Place. Though it’s unrelated to the Wafels & Dinges truck, it turns out it was launched by former employee Rachid Hamzaoui — much in the same way Gray’s Papaya was launched by an employee of Papaya King. Eater, of course, sees a waffle war brewing, but the owner of the Wafels & Dinges truck wants everyone to chill out: “There are not too many people in this business, and we all get along quite fine,” he tells Eater. “Just ask the folks at La Petit Abeille or Le Petit Belge (why are Belgians so into “Petit,” anyways?) Of course, waffle wars would make for a juicier story, but we all try hard to disappoint you in that respect.” As long as they don’t disappoint us in the waffles department, we’re fine with that.
