A while back we had a laugh over the ridiculously limited number of venues that have a cabaret license allowing patrons to dance. Mayor Bloomberg finally seems to have gotten the message that the Prohibition-era law is an embarrassment to the city (we love explaining the “dance police” to out-of-town friends) and is currently in talks with the Department of Consumer Affairs and the NYPD to reform or outright repeal it. New noise codes, a city official tells the Daily News, will be enough of a check on raging parties. Good news, huh? Kirsten Dunst is already headed to the Beatrice to celebrate.
