Café Socialista Closes for a Makeover

A tipster tells us that Café Socialista has closed, and Armin Amiri confirms that Saturday was its final night. Due to its isolated location, the basement restaurant wasn’t bringing the crowds of Socialista, the upstairs club which Amiri says is thriving and will stay open. Owners Harvey Weinstein, Giuseppe Cipriani, Sting, et al will confab about what to do, but most likely the café will reopen by September 1 as a lounge with light food and a separate door policy. Those staying in the building’s new Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode hotel, the Jane, will now need to walk over to the Rusty Knot for sustenance.
