Williamsburg restaurant-cum–screening room and performance space Monkey Town had to close briefly while its landlord installed columns in the space in order to prop up upstairs renovations (owner Montgomery Knott says he’s getting a year of free rent as compensation, but that may not cut it), but it’s reopening tonight with a new menu and screenings of Daft Punk’s trippy film, Electroma (at the time of this post, there were still tables available for the 12:30 show).

Chef Ryan Jaronik tells us he’ll unveil his Asian-inspired late-summer menu consisting of new dishes such as a house-made vegan chorizo with mole poblana and cranberry-bean purée, as well as grilled pork chops with chipotle grits and Brazilian-style collard beans. For those who are worried, the pastrami crab cakes with truffled sauerkraut and hot pink mayo will stay on the menu. There won’t be a full menu in the front room till Monday, but if you’re watching Electroma (described as a “Jodorowsky film on robot acid”) in the back room, that ain’t your problem.
