If you like drinking outdoors — and as the Times has pointed out, we all do! — here are a couple of crucial updates. First, Gowanus Lounge reports that the “pop-up café” in Brooklyn Bridge Park, catered by Rice, will stick around until September 28. If you didn’t even know that it opened back in June, rest assured you have another month to enjoy draft beers, fish tacos, and views of the waterfall.

So, how best to encourage the Parks Department to keep up these sorts of endeavors? For one, you can opt for wine, not beer, when you hit the very last of the McCarren Pool concerts this Saturday. (After Sonic Youth plays, the city will begin restoring the venue as a functional swimming pool). The folks at Green Point Wines (named for vintner James Gosper’s hometown of Green Point, Australia — he’s now based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn) tell us that profits from every $5 glass of wine sold at the show will go to Open Space Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Brooklyn parkland.
