Yet another example of those alternative-performance venues the Times recently pointed out: Gothamist reveals that Webster Hall is undergoing major renovations in order to install a recording studio and open a downstairs space that will host daily live music, Monday-night parties, and Sunday-night comedy shows. Meanwhile, across the water, in Dumbo, The Brooklyn Paper previews the newly relaunched Galapagos performance space: “In a radical departure from the usual, cramped theater seats, [venue director Robert] Elmes offers three rows of half-moon-shaped, red banquettes and low tables.…Each half moon sits on a round metal disc, or pod, that is suspended above the floor of water.”
